Destin Fishing Charters: Frequently Asked Questions 1. What is included in the price of a Destin fishing charter?Everything you need for a successful day on the water is included in your rate: your target Florida fishing license, premium rods and reels, fresh bait, ice, and safety equipment. After the trip, Captain Wayne will also clean, fillet, and bag your catch at no extra charge so it is ready for the grill. 2. Are your trips family-friendly and good for young children?Yes, we specialize in family fishing charters and kid-friendly fishing trips. Our 2-hour and 3-hour inshore bay trips are specifically designed for families and beginner anglers. We focus on keeping the action fast and the waters calm inside Choctawhatchee Bay so the kids stay engaged and comfortable. 3. What is the difference between bay fishing and offshore fishing trips?Inshore Bay Fishing: Takes place in the calm waters of Choctawhatchee Bay targeting redfish and speckled trout. This is highly recommended for families and anyone prone to motion sickness. Offshore Fishing / Deep Sea Fishing: Takes you out into the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. These trips target larger species like red snapper, grouper, and amberjack around deep reefs and wrecks. 4. How many people can join a private fishing charter?Every experience we book is a private fishing charter, meaning your group has the entire boat to themselves. Our trips accommodate small groups comfortably, ensuring you receive personalized, hands-on instruction from your Destin fishing guide without competing with a crowded party boat. 5. When is Red Snapper season in Destin, and can we keep them?Red snapper season in Florida varies slightly every year based on federal and state regulations, typically opening in early summer (around June and July). When snapper season is closed, our deep sea fishing trips shift focus to other rewarding, highly productive bottom fish like reef grouper and amberjack. 6. What should I bring on my fishing trip?We provide all the specialized gear, so you only need to bring your personal items. We recommend packing polarized sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray preferred for boat safety), a hat, and any snacks or drinks you want to keep in our coolers. 7. Where do your fishing trips launch from?We launch from Niceville, providing a convenient gateway that completely avoids the heavy traffic of downtown Destin. This strategic starting point gives us fast, direct access to both the premier inshore flats of Choctawhatchee Bay and the offshore reef zones in the Gulf of Mexico. 8. What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our booking?Your safety is our absolute priority. If Captain Wayne determines that the weather or sea conditions in the Gulf of Mexico or the bay make it unsafe to fish, we will attempt to reschedule your trip to another open slot. If rescheduling isn't possible due to your travel calendar, you will receive a full refund.
